Lake of Constance - Garden explorer

Lake Constance with its world-famous islands is a cradle of European horticultural culture. Different epochs, landscapes and styles form a special connection here. With a multitude of outstanding gardens, castles and monasteries, Lake Constance is ideal for a cross-border journey through time through the ages.

The monastery island of Reichenau and two other UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Ittingen Charterhouse, provide exciting and lively insights into history. And then there are the countless private gardens that open the Lake Constance Gardens to the public on the Long Night ... getting there In the morning,

Hermann Hesse House & Charterhouse Ittingen Take the bus to the Höri. In Gaienhofen you can visit the garden of the reopened Hermann Hesse House with a guided tour through the garden. Hermann Hesse is not only one of the most widely read German authors worldwide, he also has a strong relationship with nature and the garden, from which he drew and which was indispensable as a breeding ground for his work. His garden was restored and restored by Eva Eberwein. Today it is a magnet for literature fans and gardeners from all over the world. A glass of sparkling wine will be served in the orangery. Afterwards there is still some time to rummage in the small shop. Lunch together in a beautiful inn on the Höri. Continue via Stein am Rhein to Warth. Possibility to visit a private garden en route. In the 900 year old Kartause Ittingen you can expect a relaxing idyll, garden culture and art in the former Carthusian monastery. You will visit the Thurgau Art Museum: The historic buildings of the Charterhouse create an environment in which engaging with art becomes an experience of rare intensity. Return to Constance and overnight.

Mainau - Stiegeler Park Konstanz On foot to the harbor and boat trip to the island of Mainau: Entrance and guided tour of the island: Lush flowers all year round, a park with trees over 150 years old, the baroque splendor of the palace and church, plus the Mediterranean character and a butterfly house, which is home to numerous colorful exotic species. Free time for lunch. Pick up by bus and return to Constance. Guided tour through the Stiegeler Park: In 1918 Kommerzienrat Wilhelm Stiegeler acquired the devastated site of an exploited gravel pit, and the associated ancient Dominican stork at Klaus experienced an exciting contemporary addition from Frankfurt. A visit to the hospital cellar rounds off the day. You will be welcomed with champagne / secco in the conference room. After a short historical introduction to the winery and viticulture, a tour of the cellar vaults follows. Reichenau - Journey home

Check-out and baggage deposit in the hotel. Followed by a bus ride to Reichenau, the island of gardeners, fishermen and winemakers. Greenhouses, vines and lettuce fields alternate with Romanesque churches. The remarkable Reichenau Monastery has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. You will visit the Maria & Markus with its treasure chamber and the herb garden of the monastery. In Oberzell you then visit the Romanesque church of St. Georg with its numerous frescoes. Finally, enjoy a snack from a local fisherman. Return to the hotel and individual journey home.
